Anemoment recently was contracted to install their 3-dimensional ultrasonic anemometers, the TriSonica Mini Wind and Weather Sensors, all around Wrigley Field. The resulting data is compiled by one of the company’s partners, Weather Applied Metrics, and delivered to Marquee Sports, who broadcasts all the Chicago Cubs games.

Marquee Sports uses this weather data to put overlays on the screen illustrating the effect the wind will have on any balls hit at that particular moment within Wrigley Field. Viewers can then see how real-time weather data changes the trajectory of the ball at any given time. The result: Watching the Chicago Cubs on TV just got a whole lot more interesting.
